Emeka Egbuka has assumed the Buccaneers’ primary wide receiver role in 2026 after Mike Evans departed in free agency, positioning the second-year Ohio State product for a substantial increase in targets behind quarterback Baker Mayfield. As a 2025 rookie, he posted 63 receptions for 938 yards and six touchdowns across 17 games. He opened the current season with five catches for 63 yards on six targets in a Week 1 loss at Cincinnati, leading Tampa Bay’s receivers while showing no lingering effects from a toe sprain that limited him late in training camp. Additional factors include competition for looks from Chris Godwin, offensive line health, and the team’s overall passing volume in a schedule that features several favorable early matchups.
