These programs return efficient cores—such as Ohio State's Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith or Notre Dame's CJ Carr-led unit—bolstered by portal additions, experienced offensive lines, and proven schemes that have posted elite success rates in recent seasons. Early 2026 results highlight how conference strength, defensive matchups, and injury resilience continue to shape outcomes, leaving multiple contenders with realistic paths to lead FBS scoring or efficiency metrics.
