BJP's commanding 92% implied probability in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation election market stems primarily from its decisive victory in the 2026 West Bengal assembly polls, where the party secured leads across 102 of 144 KMC wards compared to AITC's 42. This momentum followed the dissolution of the TMC-led civic board after the mayor's resignation and the appointment of an administrator, with polls now set for November or by December after ward delimitation. Traders appear to view the saffron surge in urban constituencies as likely to carry into the municipal contest. Potential shifts could arise from delimitation outcomes altering ward boundaries, variable voter turnout in minority-dominated pockets, or coordinated opposition efforts by AITC and other parties.
