Algeria enters the Group I AFCON 2027 qualifiers as the clear frontrunner on paper given its superior FIFA ranking and squad depth, yet the market remains tightly contested ahead of the opening September window. The four-team round-robin features Zambia, Togo, and Burundi, all capable of earning points through home advantage in a schedule that includes two matches per international break. Recent squad announcements from Zambia and Togo underscore preparation for the opener, while Algeria’s draw against Zambia on matchday one and trip to Burundi immediately after introduce early variance. With no results yet recorded and historical upsets common in CAF qualifiers, traders price the top-two qualification spots as highly contested across the six matchdays.
