Omarion Hampton enters his second NFL season as the lead back for the Los Angeles Chargers in Mike McDaniel’s new offense after an injury-limited rookie year that featured just nine games and 545 rushing yards. Analysts highlight his physical running style, vision, and scheme fit as factors supporting a potential workload increase, though the backfield includes Keaton Mitchell and Kimani Vidal with McDaniel indicating a three-man rotation. Hampton opened 2026 with 12 carries for 43 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 but lost a fumble during a team loss, and he has no targets yet. Key variables include his durability after prior ankle issues, the offensive line’s health, and how the run game evolves against upcoming opponents.
