Kyler Murray’s installation as the Vikings’ starting quarterback after prevailing in offseason competition with J.J. McCarthy represents the central development shaping expectations for Justin Jefferson’s 2026 receiving touchdowns. After posting career-low production of just two scores in 2025 amid inconsistent quarterback play, Jefferson enters the season as the clear focal point of Kevin O’Connell’s scheme with an established passer capable of delivering accurate deep balls and red-zone opportunities. Camp and joint-practice reports highlight improving timing and chemistry, though early-season adjustments remain ongoing. Jefferson’s elite route-running, target dominance, and health status position him for positive regression toward his prior 8–10 touchdown seasons, while the Week 1 matchup against Green Bay and the broader schedule will test how quickly the passing attack stabilizes.
