France faces persistent legislative gridlock following the inconclusive 2024 snap elections, with multiple minority governments collapsing under no-confidence votes and repeated budget standoffs. President Macron has appointed successive prime ministers, including Sébastien Lecornu, yet the National Assembly remains fragmented among the left-wing NFP bloc, centrists, and the far-right RN, blocking stable majorities. This environment sustains trader focus on whether Macron will dissolve parliament for an early legislative vote before the scheduled 2029 deadline, especially as the 2027 presidential contest approaches and Senate elections occur in September 2026. Key near-term catalysts include fall budget negotiations, potential no-confidence motions, and any shifts in polling or coalition talks that could alter the balance of power.
