This market will resolve according to "Yes" if the listed type of consumer hardware product is publicly announced by OpenAI by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The announcement of a qualifying consumer hardware product within the market timeframe will suffice, regardless of whether or when the product is released. If a device fulfills multiple device categories, then all relevant categories will resolve to "Yes". The resolution source will be official information from OpenAI.OpenAI has accelerated its 2026 release cadence with the GPT-5.6 family (Sol flagship, Terra, and Luna tiers) launching publicly in July after a government-preview delay, followed by GPT-6 Astra in early September. These models emphasize agentic capabilities in coding, computer use, cybersecurity, and scientific reasoning, alongside efficiency gains and tiered pricing. Competitive pressure from Anthropic’s Claude, Google Gemini, and xAI’s Grok has intensified as ChatGPT’s market share fell below 50 percent, pushing OpenAI toward multimodal updates like GPT Image 2.5 and specialized tools. Remaining catalysts include further Astra rollout, potential additional model families or agent features, and any regulatory milestones that could shape final-year announcements.
