This market will resolve to "Yes" if Jacob Coxon provides public testimony before either chamber of the United States Congress (House of Representatives or Senate), or any of their official committees or subcommittees, by October 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". “Public testimony” refers to any testimony that is publicly accessible live (in-person or remote) via official livestream, television broadcast, or other live audio/video distribution. Any testimony or deposition that is closed-door or otherwise not publicly accessible will not qualify, even if recordings or transcripts are later released. The resolution source for this market will be live video or audio of the testimony; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**Jacob Coxon, a 27-year-old former pretraining researcher at Anthropic (and previously OpenAI), resigned publicly on September 8–9, 2026, in a viral X thread warning that leading AI labs are racing toward self-improving superintelligence and “gambling with our lives.”** The posts, which quickly drew tens of millions of views, prompted media coverage and bipartisan expressions of concern on Capitol Hill about AI risks, including calls for regulatory checks and a private briefing organized by Sen. Bernie Sanders. No public congressional hearing or testimony by Coxon has been announced or scheduled as of mid-September 2026. Organizing a formal public hearing typically requires committee leadership to extend an invitation or issue a subpoena, coordinate logistics, and secure member participation—steps that have not yet occurred. While lawmakers from both parties have referenced his statements in discussions of AI governance, the episode has also drawn accusations from some conservative voices that the rollout was coordinated or exaggerated, adding political friction. The short timeline to October 31 further reduces the likelihood. Congressional committees balance multiple priorities, and AI-related legislation such as the Ban Artificial Superintelligence Act (introduced earlier in September by Sen. Sanders and Rep. Greg Casar) currently lacks broad bipartisan momentum or a set markup schedule. Private briefings or staff-level discussions remain more immediate possibilities than a high-profile public hearing within the next six weeks. Traders’ 57.5% probability on “No” reflects these procedural and political realities rather than any confirmed barrier to eventual testimony.
