Rome Odunze enters the 2026 NFL season as a primary target for quarterback Caleb Williams in Chicago’s offense following the departure of DJ Moore, positioning the third-year wide receiver alongside Luther Burden III and tight end Colston Loveland for a larger share of targets in Ben Johnson’s scheme. His 2025 campaign produced six receiving touchdowns in just 12 games before a foot injury, and preseason projections from analysts such as Mike Clay anticipate around eight scores over a full schedule on elevated volume. A right calf strain sustained in early September practice has left Odunze questionable for the Week 1 opener against Carolina after limited sessions, though he has expressed confidence in playing and the Bears have stressed long-term availability. Full-season touchdown totals will hinge on his durability across 17 games, red-zone usage, and the Bears’ passing-game distribution amid a competitive receiver room.
