Justin Herbert enters the 2026 NFL season with the Los Angeles Chargers under new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, who is refining the quarterback’s footwork, timing, and anticipation to create a more efficient, explosive passing attack. Coming off a 2025 campaign with 26 passing touchdowns and 3,727 yards, Herbert benefits from a healthy offensive line featuring Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater plus a deeper receiving group, though the scheme emphasizes quicker releases and a stronger run game led by Omarion Hampton to reduce Herbert’s carries. The Chargers open against the Arizona Cardinals on September 13 at SoFi Stadium, with trader consensus reflecting optimism for elevated volume and red-zone opportunities amid a balanced offense that historically produces variable touchdown totals. Recent preseason work and camp reports highlight scheme fit without major injury concerns.
