Apple’s decision to raise the iPhone 18 Pro starting price by only $100 to $1,199 for the 256GB model, confirmed at the September 9 launch event, reflects moderated component cost pressures rather than the steeper $200–300 hikes analysts had forecast earlier in 2026. Surging DRAM and NAND memory prices, which rose sharply year-over-year, combined with upgrades like the A20 Pro chip on a 2nm process and a variable-aperture 48MP main camera, drove expectations higher, yet Apple absorbed a larger share of the bill of materials to limit the increase. Pre-orders begin September 12 and general availability follows on September 18, with storage tiers up to 2TB and regional pricing variations still possible; traders are watching any last-minute adjustments or carrier promotions that could influence effective costs.

This market will resolve based on the pre-tax launch price in USD of the standard edition of the iPhone 18 Pro as listed on the official Apple Store website or Apple’s retail pricing in the United States on the first official day of its release.
If the price differs between configurations (e.g., base storage vs. higher storage), this market will resolve according to the lower price of the version that includes the full standard iPhone 18 Pro model with no additional features, accessories, or services (e.g., base storage capacity only).
If the iPhone 18 Pro is not released by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No".
The primary resolution source for this market will be the official Apple Store (online or retail pricing), however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
