The tight distribution of probabilities across the 110-130 million turnout range for the 2026 House elections stems from uncertainty over voter enthusiasm and mobilization in a midterm cycle. Key influences include the competitiveness of battleground districts, the impact of economic conditions and major policy debates on participation rates, and historical patterns of lower midterm turnout compared with presidential years. Early voting data, demographic engagement trends, and any late-cycle developments such as candidate withdrawals or high-profile endorsements could shift expectations. Traders weigh these variables against base turnout levels from recent cycles when assessing likely totals.
