This market will resolve to "Yes" if Lionel Messi finishes as the leading goalscorer of the 2027 MLS Sprint Season regular season. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The 2027 MLS Sprint Season is the abbreviated 14-match Major League Soccer regular season scheduled to run from February 2027 to May 2027. Only goals scored in Sprint Season regular-season matches count. Goals in the 2027 MLS Cup Playoffs, Leagues Cup, Concacaf Champions Cup, U.S. Open Cup, international matches and friendlies do not count. If Major League Soccer officially presents a Golden Boot award for the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, this market will resolve according to that award. If two or more players finish level on goals scored, this market will resolve according to the tiebreaker applied by Major League Soccer, which awards the Golden Boot to the tied player with the fewest minutes played. If no single winner can be determined, this market will resolve to "No". If the 2027 MLS Sprint Season is cancelled, postponed after June 15, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or no leading goalscorer can be determined within that timeframe, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market will be official information from Major League Soccer; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**The 78% market-implied probability on "No" for Lionel Messi winning the 2027 MLS Sprint Season Golden Boot reflects trader focus on his uncertain club situation heading into the abbreviated February–May 2027 campaign.** Reports from early 2026 indicate his boyhood club Newell’s Old Boys is actively exploring a move for the first half of 2027, aligning directly with the Sprint Season window as MLS transitions its calendar. While Messi remains under contract with Inter Miami through 2028 and continues elite production in 2026 (leading the league with 19 goals in 22 appearances), the unconfirmed but credible interest in a temporary return to Argentina introduces meaningful risk he may not feature in MLS matches during the relevant period. Traders weigh this against his age (turning 40 during the window) and historical patterns of veteran players managing limited schedules, even as his current form and the short 14-game slate keep a slim path open if he stays. Key catalysts ahead include any official statements on his 2027 plans or contract updates before the season.
