Omarion Hampton enters his second NFL season as the Los Angeles Chargers' lead back following a 2025 rookie year limited to nine games and 545 rushing yards by ankle injuries. New offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel's scheme, paired with a healthy line anchored by tackles Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater, supports expectations of a heavier workload for the 23-year-old first-round pick. In Week 1 against Arizona, Hampton posted 12 carries for 43 yards and a touchdown before a fumble, amid a backfield that includes Keaton Mitchell and Kimani Vidal. Analysts highlight his power, receiving skills, and potential for 1,000-plus rushing yards if he avoids further injuries and secures the majority of early-down and goal-line work across the 17-game schedule.
