Pete Crow-Armstrong has surged to overwhelming trader consensus in the 2026 NL MVP market through a comprehensive five-tool breakout for the Cubs, posting a .281/.375/.572 slash line with 41 home runs, 36 stolen bases, elite center-field defense, and an MLB-leading 8.9 WAR. This production has widened the gap over Shohei Ohtani, whose knee injury has kept the Dodgers two-way star off the mound since early July despite solid hitting numbers. Recent August-September momentum, including multi-home-run games and clutch contributions, has reinforced the separation reflected in current implied probabilities. A late Ohtani return to pitching dominance or an unexpected Crow-Armstrong slump into the final weeks remain the primary scenarios that could still shift the outcome before BBWAA voting.
