Recent polling for Berlin’s September 20 state election shows the AfD consistently ahead of the SPD by several points, with the AfD near 18 percent and the SPD around 12-14 percent across multiple surveys. The SPD’s weak standing stems from its role as junior partner in the incumbent CDU-SPD coalition and broader national challenges, while the AfD benefits from momentum following its strong result in the September 6 Saxony-Anhalt election. This gap underpins trader consensus that the AfD will secure more votes than the SPD, though the overall race remains fragmented among the CDU, Linke, and Greens.
