Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District race features Republican nominee Charlie Hatcher holding an 88.5% implied probability against Democrat Chaz Molder at 11.2%, reflecting the district’s strong Republican tilt after mid-cycle redistricting removed much of Nashville and added rural, agricultural counties. Hatcher secured the nomination by defeating incumbent Andy Ogles in the August 6 primary with 53.3% of the vote, bolstered by endorsements from Governor Bill Lee and other establishment figures. Molder advanced from the Democratic primary but faces a structurally disadvantaged path in a district with a Cook Partisan Voting Index favoring Republicans by double digits. Recent agreement on a series of debates in September has not altered the underlying partisan math or fundraising dynamics ahead of the November 3 general election.
