Gregory Meeks holds a commanding position in the NY-05 House race due to the district's strong Democratic lean in Southeast Queens and his long incumbency since 1998. Both party primaries on June 23 were uncontested, leaving Meeks to face Republican George Marsh in the November 3 general election. Nonpartisan ratings from Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and others classify the seat as Solid or Safe Democratic, consistent with Meeks' 72.9% win in 2024. Meeks maintains substantial campaign resources while Marsh reports minimal fundraising. Trader consensus at 96.9% for Meeks reflects these structural advantages and the absence of competitive opposition or recent developments that would shift the baseline. An upset would require an unforeseen event such as a major scandal, health issue, or dramatic national political realignment within the final weeks.
